BELLE ISLE BEACH CLEANUP

Join us for a community beach cleanup at Belle Isle Beach on Sunday, August 11th in partnership with Oceanic Global and Corona USA! 

Help us protect our local waterways and connect with our partners Oceanic Global and Corona USA, as well as other Great Lakes + ocean change-makers in the Detroit community! Everyone is invited to join us in cleaning the area surrounding Belle Isle Beach, preventing plastic pollution from entering our waterways.

WHAT TO KNOW:

  • Our goal is to cleanup the community while having fun!

  • Everyone & anyone is welcome!

  • All volunteers are required to complete a DNR waiver upon arrival.

  • All cleanup materials will be provided.

  • Please bring along a reusable water bottle so you can stay hydrated with provided water refills without single-use plastic.

WHERE TO MEET + TRANSPORTATION INFO:

  • Meet us to the left of the Belle Isle Beach House at 10am! (PIN HERE)

  • Public Transit & Parking:

    • Closest Bus Stop: Inselruhe & Loiter Way

    • Limited parking available in the parking lot. Please consider carpooling or using public transportation!

    • Vehicles entering the island require a Recreation Passport. Passengers, pedestrians, bicyclists, and transit riders do not require a passport. 

ACCESSIBILITY:

  • Belle Isle Beach is largely ADA accessible, but please expect mixed terrain and sandy conditions. Most cleanup activities at this location should be able to accommodate a wide range of abilities and ages. Some cleanup activities that are on the beach may not be accessible.

ABOUT THE CLEANUP PARTNERSHIP:

  • Oceanic Global and Corona are on a mission to clean up 100 beaches and remove 1 million pounds of plastic waste by 2025. Since 2021, Oceanic Global has partnered with Corona USA to host a nationwide series of volunteer Community Cleanups across the country as part of the ‘Protect Our Beaches’ program. Each year the program includes a series of Community Cleanups which are supported by mission-aligned local NGO partners. The Cleanup Club is proud to be one of those partners!
