Join The Cleanup Club and 86 Plastic for a Lake Erie beach cleanup as we work together to protect our Great Lakes from plastic pollution! 🌊
Every year 22+ million pounds of plastic pollution enters our Great Lakes, with an estimated 5.5 million of that ending up in Lake Erie. Which is why we need your help in keeping or shorelines free from debris! 🪣🧤
This is a great opportunity to learn more about the impact of single-use plastics, microplastics, and solutions like effective policy and refill systems!
A special thank you to our event sponsor: Health-Ade. 💙
WHAT TO KNOW:
Our goal is to cleanup Lake Erie’s shoreline while having fun!
Everyone & anyone is welcome!
All cleanup materials will be provided.
Please bring along a reusable water bottle so you can stay hydrated with provided water refills without single-use plastic. 🌎
All trash we collect will be weighed, counted and categorized with the help of volunteers for Great Lakes plastic pollution research & advocacy efforts.
A state park fee will NOT be required. If there is an attendant at the entrance, please let them know you are participating in a volunteer cleanup event.
WHERE TO MEET:
We’ll be meeting on the beach. Drive to the south end of the park and park in the last parking lot (right before the camping area entrance) and walk to the beach.
MEET OUR EVENT PARTNER:
86 Plastic is a low waste refillery offering bulk goods and plastic-free items located in Troy, Michigan. Claire Mahler opened the shop after taking a gap year from teaching and following her passion to share sustainability with her community. Inspired by years of working in the restaurant industry and the number "86” meaning “no longer available”, the shop was created to help you make small swaps in efforts to cut out single-use plastics.
MEET OUR EVENT SPONSOR:
Health-Ade makes organic, high quality fermented kombucha tea that’s good for your gut! Plus, their glass bottles are perfect for refills! ♻️
We hope to see you there! 😊
