Join The Cleanup Club for a beach cleanup and fall trash survey as we work together to protect our Great Lakes from plastic pollution! 🌊
Every year 22+ million pounds of plastic pollution enters our Great Lakes, with an estimated 5.5 million of that ending up in Lake Erie. Over the summer, we collected THOUSANDS of pieces of trash from this beach but protecting the lakes isn’t seasonal - it’s year round! The season changes always stir up the Great Lakes, leaving lots of plastic items + microplastics washed up on the shoreline. Which is why we need your help! 🪣🧤
This is our final community cleanup of the 2024 season! As the cold weather comes in, we’ll be taking a break from our regularly scheduled community events - so let’s make it a great one! 💙
WHAT TO KNOW:
Our goal is to cleanup Lake Erie’s shoreline while having fun!
Everyone & anyone is welcome!
All cleanup materials will be provided.
Please bring along a reusable water bottle so you can stay hydrated with provided water refills without single-use plastic. 🌎
All trash we collect will be weighed, counted and categorized with the help of volunteers for Great Lakes plastic pollution research & advocacy efforts.
A state park fee will NOT be required. If there is an attendant at the entrance, please let them know you are participating in a volunteer cleanup event.
The weather can be chilly near the water in the fall, dress in layers to stay warm & cozy.
WHERE TO MEET:
We’ll be meeting on the beach. Drive to the south end of the park and park in the last parking lot (right before the camping area entrance) and walk to the beach.
We hope to see you there! 😊
